Who, at this point, is to say what character is a person's main?
Lets take Waal for instance. Why? Well because we are talking about him anyway, may as well just put a name to the vaguery.
Waal has tanked for a LONG time. Waal is also leading a raid. Waal has many tanks who want to come in and tank for his raid. (Waal, *very rarely* has a bunch of healers who want to come on his raid and was very kind to let me bring Eyegore). Now if you are a raid leader, and you have plenty of tanks, and you are looking to take a break from tanking 25-mans, why not let somebody else bring the tanking?
Waal may occasionally let a random "fuck off" through, but the guy is workin overtime trying to pull together a functional raid. When only 15 people show up, he finds the missing 10, somewhere. I don't know if he has an alternate universe in his pocket, but he finds not just warm bodies, but quality people.
Now, what if Waal is done playing Waal? This is purely hypothetical, I have no idea what Waals intentions are, but I'm guessing neither does anybody else. So, if Waal is retiring and Fengshui is the new main, or even if he's not sure what exactly he intends to do in WotLK... he's the raid leader. Why? Because nobody else is willing to do it. Does that give him some extra lee-way? In my book, yes. Even if it wasn't in my book, its his raid at that point and he can do whatever he damn well pleases, and I don't have to go if I don't like it.
All of this will be moot in 4-5 months when LK ships. We will all be leveling to 80, and I would predict that 25 man <IL> raids are likely to be done and gone. With the option to 10-man every raid zone, there's a very good chance the 25s would only start up again if it was somehow required to unlock/attune a 10-man.
So, my advice, smoke a doob, relax, prep for LK. If for you prepping for LK means forming some kind of raid and getting T5-T6 loot so you can skip the quest rewards until 75th, by all means do so. But if that's too much work and not enough fun, do what IS fun.
Just to add a little more....outside of PM......Waal prolly brought Feng out of necessity. We had our 3 top AOE DPSers drop. Last time I checked MH required AOE.
